Ryan Gillis joined Zscaler in November 2023 as Senior Vice President and Global Head of Government Partnerships. Ryan is building and leading a team that fosters Zscaler’s operational, policy and technical partnerships with governments around the world. This mission includes enhancing collaboration between cyber agencies and Zscaler’s world-class ThreatLabZ intelligence team to prevent and defend against cyberattacks.
From 2015 to 2023, Ryan was the Vice President of Cybersecurity Strategy and Global Policy at Palo Alto Networks. During the previous decade, Ryan served in a variety of senior roles in the United States National Security Council (NSC) at the White House, and with the Department of Homeland Security. Prior to his government service, Ryan spent several years at both technology startup and defense contracting companies.
Ryan has spent nearly a decade on the program committee of the RSA Conference International Cybersecurity Forum (ICSF), an invitation-only, closed-door forum that brings together the most senior government cybersecurity officials from more than 40 countries and multinational organizations. He is an annual participant in the U.S.-European Union Cyber Dialogue, and was an industry representative to the U.S.-Australia Diplomatic Track 1.5 Cyber Dialogue. Ryan has served as an election monitor for the Organization for Security and Co-Operation in Europe (OSCE) and as a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the World Economic Forum’s Centre for Cybersecurity, and the Center for Strategic and International Studies Cyber Policy Task Force and its Cloud Commission.
Ryan is a recipient of the NSC’s “Outstanding Service Award,” the Federal Computer Week “Fed 100,” a board member of several organizations and a graduate of Georgetown University.
